Livestock Trucking Profitability Calculator
Know your cost per mile — and your breakeven rate per loaded mile — before you quote a haul.
Cost Per Mile
Fixed and variable cost breakdown — payments, insurance, fuel, tires, maintenance, permits, trailer washouts, bedding and owner's labor. Calculates two breakeven numbers: cost per mile and the rate per loaded mile that covers your total cost, empty miles included. Cost per head and per cwt from 25 to 300 miles, plus rate, diesel price and annual miles sensitivity tables.
Load Tracker
Log each load — date, origin, destination, livestock type, head count, weight, loaded miles, rate and rate type (per loaded mile, per head, per cwt or flat rate). Revenue, estimated cost and profit calculate per load; profit shows green or red. 600 rows.
Season Summary
Season totals for loads, head, cwt, miles, revenue, cost and profit, with revenue per head and per cwt. Profit by destination — sale barns, packers, feedlots — and by month. A fixed-cost check shows profit after all annual fixed costs.
Truck Comparison
Current vs. replacement truck side by side — annual cost, cost per mile, operating savings, and payback: net purchase cost (price minus trade-in equity) ÷ annual operating savings. For a truck-and-trailer or pot comparison, enter the combined figures.
